OUR PEOPLE

Meet the people keeping you and your company safe

OUR EXPERTISE

Optic Security Group is the result of the consolidation of six leading security organisations across Australia and New Zealand in late 2018.  We're now the largest independent and most technically advanced security group across Australasia. Our backgrounds may be greatly wide-ranging, but our primary goal is clear – to keep you and your company safe.

Optic Security Group employs hundreds of people across 12 different locations in New Zealand and Australia serving and meeting the needs of close to 1,000 customers. We like to think this makes us a pretty cool organization. Not only are we bigger and better than ever now that we have merged all this talent, but there’s opportunity to work across each of our organisations, transferring from one to another, and being exposed to converged security. This means people can think about transferring across the Tasman and expanding their career so they are upskilling whilst taking advantage of a different lifestyle. We believe it doesn’t get much better than that!

Our goal is to continue growing and evolving. We can only do that by having a fantastic team behind us. Our people, and our customers mean the world to us. Having great people on board is what we’re all about. If you’re keen, then we’re keen to hear from you. Take a look at our current vacancies, or spend some time filling out an expression of interest form – we’d love to hear from you.

GROUP EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM

Jason Cherrington

Group CEO

As the CEO and founder of Optic Security Group, I am focused on bringing the best of the converged security and digital talent in Australasia together to help ensure that Optic's clients and partners can successfully and securely execute their strategies in increasingly disruptive times.

As a former Exec leader for a number of large global businesses including Skype, BT and Smith News PLC, I have a global view of not just the complexity of running an operation but having also been at the coalface in these roles, an appreciation of what a trusted and effective partner can mean in this complex and often technically enabled space.

When not focused on saving the planet, I can be found in my natural habitat surrounded by gadgets, listening to rock music, whilst watching Formula One with my equally obsessed petrol head daughter.

Matthew Evetts

GM for Optic Digital & Group CTO

My role in Optic Security Group is centred around growing how we leverage technology for our staff and customers.

I am passionate about using technology to deliver business benefits.  I have worked in a mixture of technical and business roles in the past, but I always focus on value creation.  I thrive on solving problems, growing great teams, and improving the status quo.

A personal goal I want to accomplish in the near future is to finish building a new dining room table out of recycled native timber.

Hagen Bahnemann

National Sales Director, Australia

I am a focused professional with 27 years’ experience managing and leading organisations in the building, technologies and telecommunications industries.

I am passionate about ensuring clients are always at the centre of our vision and am quick to champion their needs. My specialty is working with clients and our team to understand how we can support their operations and safety through the intersection of people and technology.

Someone I admire is Carl Sagan. Listening to him and reading the book “Cosmos” as a boy, I was filled with wonder at the scale and beauty of the universe. He inspired me to think beyond what we know.

Andrew Moss

National  Sales Director, New Zealand

I have a decade of security industry experience. Prior to my senior leadership roles at Optic I accrued business experience as a CEO and lawyer in both Australia and NZ.

I would sum up my work purpose simply in two words - 'team' and 'customer' and striving to do the best by both.

The most important thing I have learned over my career is that business is a simple game. The key is in getting the best out of people and encouraging teams to perform.

Mark Ranyard

Group CFO

I joined Optic Security Group as Chief Financial Officer back in February 2019. I am a fully qualified accountant with over thirty year’s work experience.

Along with very strong technical and financial skills, I am able to provide commercial, operational and strategic direction.

Prior to joining Optic I worked in numerous industries and have achieved many personal and professional goals during this time.

When I am not working I love spending time with my family and watching my beloved Manchester City.

Heather Hay

Chief People Officer

With over 15 years senior experience in both HR and Corporate Banking, working closely with people is very much my passion. I see our people as the centre of all our business decisions, especially when it comes to taking care of our customers and wider community in Australia and NZ.

I am always on the lookout for people who have a great passion for life and want to take our team across Australasia to the next level of success.

My favourite quote is “Don’t try and boil the ocean, make something happen every day.” It reminds me to focus on achieving small goals every day and not try to make everything happen at once.

Greg Hoskins

National Operations Director, Australia

I draw on my 35 years of industry experience to provide innovation in solutions for clients and the company. I lead by example, I have a proactive and measured management style which creates a culture of empowerment and encourages people to think outside the box.

With a passion for new technologies, I am constantly pushing the boundaries of traditional solutions. Clients and staff know that they are getting the best option available when dealing with me and my team.

Being from South Australia, in close proximity to the world famous Barossa Valley, away from work I enjoy collecting and having the occasional glass of red wine. My wine collection is secured with biometrics access control akin to a high security research laboratory!

Pete Mason

National Operations Director, New Zealand

In my role I am responsible for project delivery across NZ. My key focus revolves around building great relationships and delivering successful outcomes.

I draw on my multidisciplinary experience to ensure I can adapt well to changing priorities while ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget.

My personal motto would be “solutions not problems”
