A double win at 2024 NZ Outstanding Security Performance Awards

Optic Security Group celebrates OSPAs wins in Outstanding Contract Security Manager/Director and Outstanding Security Consultant categories.

Optic Security Group has recorded two category wins at the 2024 New Zealand Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs). At the Gala awards dinner last Friday  in Auckland, Isaac Taingahue was judged winner of the Outstanding Contract Security Manager/Director category, while Lee Ashton took out the Outstanding Security Consultant category.

It's back-to-back wins for Lee, who was awarded in the same category at last year’s OSPAs - evidence of a continuing track-record of commitment to his clients throughout the past 18 months.

The company also achieved shortlisting as finalists in two other categories: Vianna Sue (Outstanding Female Security Professional) and Optic's Retail Crime Prevention Programme (RCPP) Team (Outstanding Security Integrator/Installer).

“It was a fantastic achievement by the team, and most definitely well deserved,” said Optic Security Group’s New Zealand General Manager Nik Boeinghoff. “Congratulations also to all the other winners and finalists. It was a truly great evening celebrating and acknowledging the successes of our industry.”

Wellington Operations Manager Isaac Taingahue’s award nomination featured several client testimonials evidencing the trust that his long-term customers in the capital have placed in him and in his team. Auckland-based Senior Security Architect Lee Ashton’s nomination focused on the security risk and system design consultancy services he delivers to a range of nationally significant clients in critical infrastructure sectors.

Auckland-based administrator Vianna Sue has for over 25 years combined her technical knowledge, commitment and innovation to keep the company at the forefront of administrative developments. In 2023, her achievements were recognised in her shortlisting as a Finalist in the New Zealand Security Association's New Zealand Security Awards in the category of Administrator of the Year.

After being selected by New Zealand Police as a member of a multi-supplier panel to install enhanced security measures in retail businesses affected by ram raids or aggravated robberies, Optic’s RCCP team, led by Nik Boeinghoff, was responsible for security enhancements at hundreds of stores. This team played a key role in short-circuiting the modus operandi of organised retail crime groups across New Zealand.

Optic Security Group is proud of its track record at the OSPAs, which is now in its third year in New Zealand. In addition to Lee Ashton’s 2023 win, 2022 saw Optic’s then Operations Manager Pete Mason being awarded Outstanding Contract Security Manager/Director, and Enterprise Security Risk Manager Nicholas Dynon awarded for Lifetime Achievement.

The 2024 OSPAs award gala dinner was held on 05 April at the Ellerslie Event Centre in Auckland. Optic Security Group congratulates all nominees, finalists, and category winners.

Security Advisory

Be vigilant. There has been an increase in reports of false billing scams. If you have received an email with an invoice purporting to be from us, call your Optic Security Group contact person to confirm if it is legitimate. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s National Anti-Scam Centre has reported a 25% increase in losses incurred by Australians from false billing scams in the July-September 2023 quarter compared to the same period last year. This is despite an overall 16% decrease in losses across scam categories.

Payment redirection scams are the most prevalent type of false billing scams. These involve scammers impersonating a business or its employees via email and requesting that money, which usually is owed to the legitimate business, is paid into a fraudulent account. For further information, visit the National Anti-Scam Centre website at https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/.

Optic Security Group will never advise a change of bank details via email. If you have received an email with an invoice purporting to be from us, call your Optic Security Group contact to confirm if it is legitimate.
