The 2025 New Zealand Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) finalists have been announced, with Optic Security Group named in four categories.

Optic Security Group has continued its association with the New Zealand OSPAs with a cohort of Optic individuals and teams making to the 2025 finalist shortlist!

"We have a very strong track record at the NZ OSPAs, having had winners in each year of the awards since it began in 2022," said General Manager New Zealand Nik Boeinghoff. "We're looking to extend our winning streak this year!"

And our finalists are:

  • Outstanding Security Integrator/Installer: Optic Security Group Retail Crime Prevention Programme Team

  • Outstanding Security Partnership: Optic Security Group and Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington - Asset Upgrade Project

  • Outstanding Female Security Professional - Chelsea Wallis

  • Outstanding Contract Security Manager/Director - Nicholas Dynon

The 2025 New Zealand OSPAs are supported by Association of University Chief Security Officers, ASIS International (New Zealand Chapter), Institute of Strategic Risk Management, New Zealand Security Association, New Zealand Security Sector Network, Profit Protection Future Forum and RiskNZ, and it is a key event in New Zealand's security industry calendar.

“We are delighted to return to New Zealand once again and the support we have received is very encouraging,” said founder of the OSPAs Professor Martin Gill.

“All those that have made it to the finalists list should be very proud, as only those that reach a score threshold go forward to the next phase of the competition.”

The awards are judged by a panel of independent experts from across the New Zealand security industry.

Security Advisory

Be vigilant. There has been an increase in reports of false billing scams. If you have received an email with an invoice purporting to be from us, call your Optic Security Group contact person to confirm if it is legitimate. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s National Anti-Scam Centre has reported a 25% increase in losses incurred by Australians from false billing scams in the July-September 2023 quarter compared to the same period last year. This is despite an overall 16% decrease in losses across scam categories.

Payment redirection scams are the most prevalent type of false billing scams. These involve scammers impersonating a business or its employees via email and requesting that money, which usually is owed to the legitimate business, is paid into a fraudulent account. For further information, visit the National Anti-Scam Centre website at https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/.

Optic Security Group will never advise a change of bank details via email. If you have received an email with an invoice purporting to be from us, call your Optic Security Group contact to confirm if it is legitimate.
